Philanthropic Programs Overview

Operation School Bell

Operation School Bell is the nationwide philanthropic program of Assistance League. The purpose of this program is to provide school clothes to children in need.

Helping Hearts

Each week volunteer members bring donuts and serve coffee to the residents of River Oaks, an adult assisted living center. Members visit with the residents and entertain them with crossword puzzles.

Youth Today

Implements programs aimed at teaching children how to make good choices by supporting and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

* Drug testing kits: Assistance League of Coppell provides drug testing kits and pamphlets free of charge to concerned parents in our community.

* Fatal Vision goggles: These goggles are specially designed and manufactured to simulate the visual impairment caused by alcohol or other drugs. The principle underlying the Fatal Vision Program is to demonstrate how quickly impairment can turn fun into devastating consequences.

* Shattered Dreams: Adopted in the spring of 2001, Shattered Dreams is a day-long dramatization of an alcohol-related crash at Coppell High School (CHS), complete with Coppell Police and emergency medical services.

* Journeys: This is a mentoring program aimed at "at-risk" middle school children and was initiated in spring 2002.

Service Learning/Scholarship

In keeping with the mission of Assistance League, our scholarship is offered to a student who has exhibited excellence in service to the community and beyond.
